Beekeeping in Schools
The Dorset Bee is a community-focused initiative that supports pollinators and raises awareness of the vital role bees play in the environment, biodiversity, and food production across Dorset. As part of its education work, the Dorset Bee delivers engaging beekeeping programmes for schools at Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3, giving pupils hands-on opportunities to learn about honeybees, other pollinators, and sustainable ecosystems. Through age-appropriate lessons, practical activities, and real-life examples from beekeeping, pupils explore topics such as life cycles, habitats, pollination, and environmental responsibility, while developing curiosity and respect for nature. The programme links directly to the national curriculum and helps inspire the next generation to care for the natural world. If you would like to discuss a field trip, school visit, or residential experience, please drop us an email for further details—bookings are now open for opportunities from spring 2026.
